About the Opportunity

Our valued client is an entrepreneurial, fast paced company located outside of the Downtown core, in more of an industrial type area business park that has ample free parking and modern, spacious office space.

They are looking for a confident, experienced, designated full-time Senior Accountant with excellent organizational and technical aptitude, to work for a dynamic and growing company. They are a client-focused company that works to tight deadlines in a team oriented and collaborative environment.

Reporting to the Controller, to be successful in this role, you must be able to handle a demanding workload in a fast-paced environment and be flexible to change. You will bring an enthusiastic and positive attitude to work and continuously look for process and efficiency improvement while eager to take on new challenges and be helpful and supportive. You should be an above average communicator who can build trusting relationships with co-workers, managers and a variety of different personalities while possessing a strong business acumen.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Ownership and management of the month end process including adjusting entries, balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations and variance analysis
  • Quarterly preparing consolidated financial statements and supporting reports for the board
  • Quarterly assist with budget preparation and trend analysis
  • Annually prepare year end financial statements including all working papers for audits
  • Assist in financial audits and audit queries and SR&ED queries
  • Assist in preparing government grant applications
  • Provide support and assistance in the transition of Accounting systems from QuickBooks to Microsoft Nav
  • Provide support to the Controller with tactical and strategic initiatives
  • Support tax, audit and corporate structure, legal entity, restructuring and share buybacks
  • Process design and support segregation of duties
  • Provide support mentorship and back-up leadership to the Accountants, Analyst, AP/AR and Payroll functions within the team as needed
  • Help with board packages
  • Assist with and eventually take over cash management responsibilities in time
  • Other duties as assigned


About You

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Recognized Canadian Accounting Designation (CPA)
  • Minimum 5 to 7+ years in a similar role in a fast-paced medium size business environment  
  • Exceptional organizational skills, time management skills and a willingness to learn with a strong process/systems background and experience dealing with internal and external stakeholders/customers
  • Ability to deal with senior management
  • Strong interpersonal skills and attention detail
  • Professional, friendly, approachable demeanor and ability to remain energetic and positive in a fast-paced environment
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and desire for constant improvement
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Products (word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Experience in Quick Books would be an asset along with NAV and Power BI
  • Creative problem-solver with a knack for designing and implementing great new processes
  • Excellent verbal & written interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility about job responsibilities
  • Strong desire to help the accounting team/office as a strong contributing member and be productive


About the Job

  • Healthy base salary $ – commensurate with years’ experience
  • Ideally targeting $100,000 base salary
  • Stretch performance bonus plan – discretionary but targeting in the 10%-15% range
