About the Opportunity
On behalf of our client, a large and innovative private sector service provider, we are recruiting for a Manager of Labour Relations. Reporting to the Director, Human Resources & Labour Relations, this role is responsible for the LR function, including managing the efforts of others. This position establishes the relationship with several unions for a productive and constructive environment and is responsible for providing solutions to clients in alignment with the organization’s strategic direction.

This is a full time/permanent position offering a salary of $100,000 to $145,000 with exceptional benefits, an enviable pension and a hybrid work arrangement in an office outside of the downtown core with free parking.

This position establishes the relationship with several unions for a productive and constructive environment and is responsible for providing solutions to clients in alignment with the organization’s strategic direction.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Foster and maintain a positive and constructive Labour relations environment and strong relationships with bargaining agents and their representatives
- Develop collective bargaining strategies and contribute to collective agreement renewals
- Represent management in collective bargaining, grievance and arbitration and tribunals
- Oversee the disciplinary and grievance process
- Provide support, advice and consultation on the organizations policies and procedures and employment and labour legislation
- Oversee workplace investigations
- Work collaboratively with Legal Counsel
The successful candidate will have the following:
- Post secondary education in Human Resources, Public Administration, Industrial Relations or related field
- A minimum of seven to ten years in a Human Resources and Labour Relations role, including interpretation and application of a collective agreement
- Experience in collective bargaining
- Proven conflict management skills with effective communication across levels of the organization
- Knowledge of employment law and labour legislation across eastern Canada
