About the Opportunity

Are you an experienced legal professional with a deep understanding of major project contracts and collaborative contract models? LRO Staffing is currently representing a reputable General Contracting Company that is searching for a Legal Counsel with expertise in this area to join their team. As Legal Counsel, you will be crucial in providing expert legal guidance and support, particularly in navigating major project contracts within the collaborative contract model. This includes advising on contract negotiation and drafting, risk management, dispute resolution, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Duties include but are not limited to
  • Provide legal support for their business broadly, including with respect to structuring, reviewing, drafting, negotiating, and enforcing commercial agreements, including teaming agreements, project agreements, design-build agreements, design agreements and other subcontract agreements, NDAs, purchase orders, and key vendor terms
  • Providing legal advice on complex construction, development and corporate matters, including Public-Private Partnerships (P3) Projects, Design Build Projects, Progress Design Build and various collaborative contracts
  • Work with functional and project pursuit teams and leaders to communicate and implement risk management tools and assess and manage project risks
  • You will also work within this firm's corporate structure and major project obligations to support this firm during its major growth trajectory
About You
 
The successful candidate will have the following:
  • A current license to practice law in Ontario and member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
  • 5+ years of post-call experience at a well-respected law firm or in-house construction legal department
  • Superior written and oral communication and interpersonal skills in complex and at times adversarial situations, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization as well as the ability to establish rapport and credibility with stakeholders across the project team
  • Sound judgement and legal reasoning, excellent analytical skills, and creativity in solving problems
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategies to succeed, present a clear plan to the client, and communicate instructions rigorously and precisely
