Accounting Services Manager (NFP) - Contract to Permanent - 16956

About the Opportunity 

Our client is looking for an Accounting Services Manager to look after their clients in the NFP sector. The ideal candidate brings an audit mindset and is accountable for overall service delivery of assigned clients. You will be overseeing the accounting services team, while ensuring accuracy of clients financial reporting. You will be responsible for maintaining a strong relationship with clients and act as the intermediary between the client and accounting services team.  

Duties include but are not limited to: 
  • Spearhead the onboarding of new clients while working with the accounting services teams to ensure a smooth transition and implementation of the accounting tasks
  • Review, mentor, and lead the accounting services team, ensuring accuracy of the financial reporting
  • Oversee the month, quarter and year end close processes for clients
  • Review working papers, GL transactions, and overall accuracy of the work performed by the accounting services team
  • Interface with clients, providing them with recommendations, process improvements, and strengthening of internal controls to ensure effective financial reporting
  • Assist the accounting services team to resolve client related issues while maintaining effective and positive communication
  • Lead and facilitate weekly and ad-hoc meetings with clients
  • Address concerns raised by the clients and providing them with support and solutions with their accounting, taxation, and overall financial reporting
  • Preparation of the budgets and forecasts that will assist clients with long term planning and continuity
  • Preparation of cash flow and investment management and interpreting financial statements that will assist clients with long term planning and continuity
  • Oversee all the financial functions of the organization including financial statement preparation, budget development and management, creation of a complete year-end working papers file, working with the auditors, presentations to the finance committee and the board of directors
  • Ability to translate complex financial information into regular language terms
  • Spearhead special projects i.e., implementation of new processes, system implementations and migrations, financial planning and analysis, and financial audits, etc.
  • Preparation of financial reporting packages, including presentation decks, to the client’s management team and external stakeholders
  • Provide a professional level of service to meet and exceed client expectations and contractual obligations, while exemplifying client service excellence
  • Review accounting services’ team budgets, managing resource allocation, monitoring client billings and following up on overdue accounts, if any
About You

The successful candidate will have the following:
  • CPA or equivalent working experience
  • Experience in the NFP or NGO sector
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to present financial findings to management, boards and the C-Suite
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of business environment
  • Bilingualism is an asset
